Washington, D.C. – One of the largest roof decks in DC is kicking summer into high gear with a big splash. YOTEL Washington DC announced today that Deck 11 is now complete and officially open for hotel guests and the public. The 8,000-square-foot rooftop oasis at 415 New Jersey Avenue, NW features a variety of highly stylized spaces including an 800-square-foot pool, private sun decks, top-of-the-line resort cabanas equipped with charging stations, communal fire pits, yard games, DJ booth, VIP section and lounge offering full food and beverage service featuring craft cocktails, local beers, wine, appetizers, salads, crab cakes and sandwiches. Known for its many rooftop terraces around the world, YOTEL Washington DC’s Deck 11 is named after the location level of the building. The rooftop lounge offers guests a relaxing vibe where they can socialize and unwind in a sophisticated setting that overlook the U.S. Capitol dome. Grand opening events including live DJ sets will kick-off in July as the rooftop celebrates its debut.
Deck 11 offers an array of seating arrangements that includes four resort cabanas, 26 lounge chairs, lounge seating clusters with and without firepits, a communal dining table with 12 barstools and bar right off the pool with 12 barstools nestled at the countertop and 11 high-top tables scattered throughout the area.
The Deck 11 rooftop is the third and final phase of completion for the comprehensive hotel construction and conversion in partnership with hospitality architecture and project management firm, Jonathan Nehmer + Associates and design studio Wimberly Interiors. The official unveil and grand opening of the hotel and its public spaces follows the 2019 YOTEL acquisition of the Liaison Washington Capitol Hill hotel by partners Metrovest Equities and BLDG Management.
Under design by the New York-based Wimberly Interiors, Deck 11 was conceived as a collection of playful elements and moments – seamlessly transitioning from the perfect space to work, relax and lounge during the day, to a high-energy environment for after work drinks and after dark antics by night. Its tonal color palette of white, grey and black is accented by pops of chartreuse, yellows, oranges and greens throughout, complementing YOTEL’s signature aesthetic while creating connection to the vibrant and eclectic Capitol Hill scene. Adding to the casual and whimsical-yet-adventurous aesthetic of the space, statement pieces like a glowing, internally lit DJ table and custom-made bar and geometric-shaped lights serve as focal points. In keeping with DC’s climate, retractable awnings and misters were installed to ensure a comfortable temperature and adequate shade in the warmer months, while fire pits with semi-private breakout spaces were designed for the transitional season.
“Whether you are taking a break from the pool or popping up before or after a day of exploring the city, Deck 11 is the perfect spot to sip a cocktail or a beer while enjoying made-to-order cuisine,” said Shawn Jervis, General Manager, YOTEL Washington DC. “The rooftop offers a casual atmosphere by day and high-energy by night, against a beautiful skyline in the heart of Capitol Hill. Our revamped rooftop pool and flexible layout ensure that Deck 11 is a space for everyone, at any time of the day, and any time of the year.”
Guests on Deck 11 can enjoy a wide selection of craft cocktails, wine and beer in addition to an exquisite al fresco dining menu created by Chef Danny Chavez, who also serves as chef for Art and Soul, the renowned restaurant on the main level.
Beverage fare includes an extensive wine list and local craft beers and features a variety of fresh specialty cocktails featuring Watermelon Frosé (Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, Water), Piña Colada (Lime Juice, Simple Syrup, Coco Lopez, Pineapple Juice, Water), Amalfi Spritz (Mint, Orange Juice, Soda Water) and Altos Paloma (Lime Juice, Simple Syrup, Grapefruit Juice, Water). Wines can also be purchased by the bottle for those looking to make an afternoon or evening out of lounging.
Chef Chavez’s menu sources hand-picked local ingredients from Chesapeake Bay watershed communities with a commitment to sustainability and regional flavors. The seasoned chef selected a fine assortment of fresh creations for Deck 11 that includes: Ahi Tuna (avocado mousse, gochujang vinaigrette, mango curd, crispy shallot), Braised Mole Short Rib Sandwich (pickled red onion, cotija cheese, brioche), Pastrami Turkey Sandwich (fermented red cabbage, rye, smoked gouda cheese, 1000 island) and Pimiento Cheese (house made crackers, pickles).
Deck 11 is open daily and offered complimentary for hotel guests while public day passes are available starting at $40 per person. Cabana rentals are offered for both hotel guests and the public. More information and reservations are available on Deck11rooftop.com.
