May 2021, Glasgow, UK – YOTEL Glasgow officially opens its doors this month in the centre of Scotland’s most vibrant city, marking the brand’s second Scottish opening and its fourth European city-centre hotel as it continues its impressive global expansion.
The hotel has 257 modern cabins (YOTEL speak for bedrooms) ready to book and offers guests a smart space to stay in a buzzing city centre spot, located on Argyle Street opposite Glasgow’s Central Station. A stone’s throw away from Finnieston - named one of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods – as well as Buchanan Street, Merchant City and the SSE Hydro all nearby, its minimalistic design and clever use of technology is perfect for those visiting the city for both work and play.
Each cabin, in the latest signature YOTEL design is equipped with features including the space-saving adjustable SmartBed™ with gel cooled mattresses, refreshing rain showers, Smart TVs and free super-fast WiFi to encourage guests to BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). The hotel has a range of cabin types from Premium Queen and Triple to First Class and the VIP suite, offering impressive views over the iconic Glasgow Central Station frontage.
The hotel will also be home to VEGA, an out of this world bar, four lane bowling alley and event space lifting off in June. Taking over the entire seventh floor with space for 282 guests, VEGA will come alive at night, offering larger than life dining and cocktails to the soundtrack of the cities hottest DJs. During the daytime, the unapologetically bright and bold space will lend itself well to co-working, casual meetings and private hire events.
Stuart Douglas, General Manager of YOTEL Glasgow said: “YOTEL exists to challenge the status quo, appealing to those who find traditional hotels uninspiring and who want more than a great sleep. At YOTEL Glasgow, we’re going to be delivering a unique hotel experience through our awesome people, smart design and creative use of technology – all with a touch of fun and tons of passion. There’s nothing else quite like us in the city and we can’t wait to show our guests and the people of Glasgow what we’re all about.”
The hotel will also rollout YOTEL’s latest contactless technologies including the brand’s new App with a downloadable SmartKey for low-touch cabin entry and self-service kiosks – located in Mission Control on the ground floor – offering guests alternative ways to check-in, check-out and manage their stay seamlessly. VEGA will also offer contactless mobile ordering and payment options.
Hubert Viriot, YOTEL CEO, commented: “YOTEL Glasgow will mark our 17th hotel in the portfolio and fifth hotel in the UK. We remain optimistic about the future of the travel, particularly for the YOTEL brand, as we focus on our ‘everything you need and nothing you don’t’ approach which matches the needs of travellers in the current environment. As our third office conversion, Glasgow is another example of our flexibility in design which we believe will become more important as we look towards the future and continue our focus on conversions of offices, retail and existing hotels. “
Additional hotel amenities include a 24/7 gym kitted out with the latest Life Fitness equipment and floor to ceiling windows offering impressive views of the city. #SmartStay measures are in place offering enhanced hygiene practises, contactless payments and social distancing in response to the ongoing situation.
