2. THAIPUSAM FESTIVAL

Named after the star, Pusam, the Thaipusam festival celebrates giving thanks and is a day for devotees to celebrate the fulfilment of their vows. The festival honours Lord Subramaniam (also known as Lord Murugan), who represents virtue, youth and power, and is the destroyer of evil in the Hindu community. In Singapore, the religious festival brings together thousands of Hindu devotees who undergo a 4km walk through the city, ending by the Sri Thendayuthapani Temple.

You can witness the colourful procession between Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple at Serangoon Road and Sri Thendayuthapani Temple at Tank Road, as some lanes are closed to traffic for the occasion.
